Summer Maintenance Worker — Haliburton Scout Reserve

Scouts Canada is hiring a Summer Maintenance Worker at Haliburton Scout Reserve this role will report to the Director, Property Operations.

 

SUMMARY

Facilitate the maintenance and cleaning of Haliburton Scout Reserve  

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Working in collaboration with other maintenance workers to: 

  • Maintain the grounds in a safe manner, including required grass cutting and debris removal
  • Ensures camp is secure and responds to any security concerns as required
  • Maintain camp tools and equipment in good working condition using applicable safety equipment
  • Maintain camp vehicles and watercraft in good working condition meeting current safety standards
  • Ensure proper disposal of all waste materials following all applicable laws and regulations
  • Assist with construction and camp maintenance projects as directed

  • Possesses maturity and sound decision making, ability to work independently

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience
  • Broad general knowledge of building and equipment maintenance
  • Chain Saw certification is a strong asset
  • Hold valid driver’s license
  • Valid First Aid and CPR C
  • This role is funded by a Canada Summer Jobs grant and applicants will have to fit the age criteria of 15-30 years of age 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience
  • Broad general knowledge of building and equipment maintenance
  • Chain Saw certification is a strong asset
  • Hold valid driver’s license
  • Valid First Aid and CPR C
  • This role is funded by a Canada Summer Jobs grant and applicants will have to fit the age criteria of 15-30 years of age 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Climbing ladders and work above head frequently
  • Pushing, pulling and bending over frequently
  • Operating machinery

 

LIVING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to live onsite for the summer 
  • Living onsite would include camping accommodations for sleeping and cooking and use of propane shower. Weekly access to laundry services will be provided
