1st Cowan Heights Camp

1st Cowan Heights Camp is located approximately 2 kms south of the Trans Canada Highway near the Foxtrap Access, approximately 20 kms west of St. John’s. It offers a semi-wilderness camping experience.

The site is rustic and off the electrical grid, but a hook-up for a generator to provide electricity is available. The camp receives cellular service in all areas, but no landlines exist. The property currently houses a cabin with a bunkhouse and kitchen, as well as two attached outhouses and a cleared field for outdoor camping or other activities. While there is a pond nearby, the site does not have potable water (users must bring their own). There are many trails and several ponds in the area that provide for ample hiking, fishing and canoeing activities. The kitchen contains a propane stove and it, and the bunkhouse, are heated by a wood stove. The building can sleep up to 40 people.
