Awards Night in Kensington

On Monday April 5, 2021 the Kensington Scouting Group Committee members, leaders, as well as a representative Gwen Mosher-Ingles (via text message) from Scouts Canada and PEI Council held a special meeting to present awards, the first award presented was to Lois Brown as she has dedicated over 55 years to the Scouting movement here in Kensington and Summerside areas. She has had many roles over the years, she has served as Group Committee member,  Cub Leader, Service Team, District Commissioner as well as serving on Council both in Kensington and Summerside. Lois began her Scouting career in 1958 and continues to be an active member in 2021 at the age of 96 yrs. On that day we gathered to congratulate her and present her with The Silver Acorn.

 

Derwin Cole (Group Committee member) presented Lois Brown with her Silver Acorn and a certificate also congratulating Lois Brown is Shelley Cole (Group Committee member).

 

Here is the background on this award, The Silver Acorn is awarded to Scouters who have shown especially distinguished and outstanding service that extends beyond the group or section level.

On Monday April 5, 2021 the Kensington Scouting Group Committee members as well as Leaders also presented Kevin Cook with a certificate for 5 years of Service to Scouting. Kevin began as a Beaver Scout leader and now has moved up to be Cub Scout leader, we “Thank” him for his years of service to the Scouting Movement and hope he will remain a valuable member for many years to come.

 

Lois Brown (Group Commissioner) presented Kevin Cook with his 5 year Certificate for Service to Scouting and Derwin Cole reading the message on behalf of Scouts Canada.
