Durham using cabins at Oshawa’s Camp Samac as shelter space with physical distance

With physical distancing and isolation concerns in mind, Durham Region is using some of the cabins at Camp Samac in Oshawa as a temporary shelter space during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The region is also working with local hotels to support unsheltered residents who need to isolate.

Transportation arrangements have been identified for individuals using these temporary shelters and the region says connections with the health care sector have strengthened.

According to the region, Scouts Canada is allowing one of their private cabins in Camp Samac to be used as a shelter space.
