Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI)

Relatively few Scouts are lucky enough to attend a World Jamboree. These jamborees only take place every four years, and they are often held very far from Canada. Participating in Jamboree on the Internet costs almost nothing, doesn’t limit the number who can take part and can be enjoyed by almost any Scouting member without leaving their neighbourhood.

Plan

  • When is JOTI held? How can you find out?
  • Where will your Troop meet for the event? What equipment do you need?
  • What do you know about online etiquette? How can you find out more?
  • What would you like the world to know about your Scout Group?
  • What would you like to learn about Scouting in other parts of the world?

Do

  • Get online and take part in Jamboree on the Internet!

Review

  • What do you know now that you did not know before?
  • What did others want to know about Canada and Scouting?
  • With what parts of the world did you make contact?
  • How did you feel before, during and after this adventure?
  • What would you do differently next time?

Keep it Simple

  • What would you like to tell other Scouts about Scouting in Canada? What would you like to learn about Scouting in other countries? Create a list of questions that you would like to ask and create a list of answers to common questions other people might have, like what your uniform looks like and what sorts of activities you do in Scouting!

Take it Further

  • Connect with a group through JOTI and build a friendship with them! Stay connected – you could even exchange letters or postcards. (Note: You should NOT do this as an individual – your pen-pal should be a group of Scouts and you should send letters along with the rest of your Section, rather than on your own).
