- What safety precautions should you keep in mind while working near water?
Do
- As a Section, or in small teams, organize a shoreline cleanup.
- This may be a more challenging project than picking up litter in the park or along a roadside.
- Depending on the shoreline, you may have to get out in canoes and pull on hip-waders. This can also be a great linking activity.

- How did you feel before, during and after this experience?
- What problems did you encounter, and how did you solve these problems?
- Did you find as much trash as you expected? Why do you think this was the case?
- What else can you do to improve the shoreline?

Keep it Simple
In small teams or on your own, use the My Little Plastic Footprint app to see how you are all doing with keeping shorelines cleaner and less riddled with plastic. From here, what can be done to continue minimizing the trash in our oceans and wetlands? Test out some different ways of removing plastic from water and decide on the most effective method.
Take it Further
Connect with a local conservation or water protection authority and see if they have any ongoing projects that you can participate in. Some might be working on removing invasive species, reducing erosion, or any other project. Learn more about how you can get involved!
