A three step process informs all activities in the Canadian Path program.
Social, Physical, Intellectual, Character, Emotional and Spiritual are the six dimensions of personal development for the Canadian Path program.
The program is directed by its youth members—not the Scouters.
Throughout this past year, the Canadian Path team has launched a number of videos and resources aimed at helping Scouters and youth understand what the Canadian Path means to them and their Section. These resources have now been rolled into a brand new training course called Canadian Path Fundamentals. This course summarizes everything we’ve learned about the Canadian Path in the past year in one convenient place!
This course is supplemental for all existing Scouters, meaning that it’s up to you whether you’d like to take it, but will be added to the existing Wood Badge Part 1 courses so that new Scouters are up to date on what we covered last year.

Adventures in this Program Area involve exploring, hiking, camping, paddling and other ways of enjoying the outdoors, even as youth learn new skills to live in, and take care of, their environment and Leave No Trace.
During adventures in this Program Area, youth learn about and practise the skills of being good leaders in their Section, local community and Canada.
During adventures in this Program Area, youth are involved in playing, having fun and being active while they develop good mental and physical habits for happy and healthy living.
During adventures in this Program Area, youth are involved in learning about being good citizens in their community, Canada and world.
During adventures in this Program Area, youth are involved in sharing and exploring their own creative expression and trying out the creative expression engaged by others.
During adventures in this Program Area, youth explore personal values and beliefs as well as the diversity of cultures and faiths that make up our communities, our nation and our world.
Scouts Canada’s all-new Youth Leadership Training courses have been created for all five Sections, from Beaver Scouts to Rover Scouts! In fact, the program was spearheaded by a team of youth from across Canada.
Each group of youth participants can create a unique collection of adventures to explore five leadership knowledge areas, including Becoming a Leader, Communication, Plan-Do-Review, Problem Solving and Teamwork. Youth from older Sections facilitate the adventures—while adult Scouters take a step back from the action.
With guidance from Scouters, these workshops are led by youth, for youth. Following the practices, principles and resources of The Canadian Path including Trail Cards, the program’s flexibility allows youth to Plan, Do and Review adventures that they choose as a team.
As a Scouter, you can be a facilitator of a YLT workshop, but it’s ideal for senior youth to facilitate the activities for younger members. Support the facilitators and set them up for success by ensuring the they commit plenty of time to preparing the workshop they’ll facilitate and review their plans in detail with them ahead of time.
Are you a Scouter interested in supporting youth in your Group pursuing The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award? With an emphasis on outdoor adventure and community service, the Award also supports youth in their personal development. Become an Award Leader and discover how the program can enrich Scouting adventures for youth in your community!
As an Award Leader, you will meet regularly with participants and support the youth as they work towards The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

STEM kits are a great way to start your exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics on The Canadian Path. The kits provide Trail Cards, manuals and materials for several STEM activities designed around a common theme. Explore the Robotics Kit for Scouts
We have a pool of STEM Trail Cards for Scouts to make STEM a part of their Scouting program. The Trail Cards follow the “Plan-Do-Review” model to guide youth through activities. They include a list of the materials the group will need and links to online resources.
The Chief Scout's Award is the Top Section Award of a youth's personal journey through Scouts. It is the highest award that can be achieved at the Scout level.
