Call for Volunteers:

Key 3 Roles for Strategic Plan initiative

Scouts Canada is looking for motivated volunteers and youth members to fill “Key 3” roles as part of our Strategic Plan initiative.

Each portfolio will form a “Key 3”, a shared leadership model consisting of two volunteers, one of which must be a youth, and a member of Scouts Canada’s staff. Reporting directly to the National Key 3, these teams will be co-equal decision makers who will be collectively responsible for different pillars of the Strategic Plan and Scouts Canada’s operations. Each will be tasked with recruiting a team of volunteers and youth to work with existing staff and volunteers to accomplish the priorities in the 2021 Strategic Plan.

The following volunteer positions are currently available for 'Key 3' roles:

 

Program

Responsible for ensuring that Scouts Canada’s programs live up to our brand promise.  The strategic plan calls for specific efforts to increase the number of outdoor adventures, improve the consistency of program delivery, and the development of additional program blocks to increase program quality and ease of delivery for Scouters.  This Key 3 will also be accountable for ensuring Scouting events are high quality, youth-led, and safe.

  • 1 Volunteer under 26
  • 1 Volunteer of any age

 

Volunteer Support

Responsible for ensuring that Scouts Canada’s volunteers are appropriately supported throughout their time in Scouting.  The strategic plan calls for specific work to examine the volunteer lifecycle with an eye to making it easier to be a Scouter.  Effort will also be required to provide opportunities for experiential outdoor skills development.  This Key 3 will be accountable for ensuring Scouter Development and Recognition functions are effective and meeting established goals.

  • 1 Volunteer under 26
  • 1 Volunteer of any age

 

Marketing and Communications

Responsible for standardized, consistent and integrated communications across Canada. This Key 3 will be accountable for bringing the brand to life in multiple areas: internal communications, external communications, recruitment & creative services.

  •  1 Volunteer under 26

 

Property Operations

Responsible for ensuring that Scouts Canada’s properties operate safely, sustainably, and provide Scouting members with access to quality outdoor adventures. This Key 3 will be accountable for building sustainable plans to drive amazing experiences at Scouting properties for years to come.

Positions available:

  • 2 Volunteers of any age  

 

Diversity Equity and Inclusion

Responsible for ensuring that we achieve the strategic imperative of creating a more inclusive Scouts Canada and successfully engage Indigenous communities in an authentic journey of Reconciliation. This Key 3 will be accountable for working directly with the Board’s DE&I working Group and Reconciliation Steering Committee to co-create the plan that will enable us to meet our Reconciliation and Inclusion commitments.

  • 1 Volunteer under 26
  • 1 Volunteer of any age
