Assistant Camp Director — Camp McLean (Langley, BC)

WORK TIME: This position is anticipated to begin on June 6th, 2022, and will work full-time hours (35 hours per week), for a 12 week commitment, until August 26, 2022Further information regarding mandatory training dates & the official start date will be confirmed in the onboarding process.

Tasks & Responsibilities:  

  1. Support the planning and implementation of staff training.
  2. Coordinate all camp program activities, materials, staff duties, safe program development.
  3. Ensure a variety of methods for age appropriate outdoor activities.
  4. Ensure all Covid protocols are met.
  5. Provide registration and administration support.
  6. Update website and social media.
  7. Mentor and support of junior staff with integration and strategies for inclusion of children and youth with exceptional abilities.
  8. Enhance the child’s self-esteem and confidence through positive reinforcement
  9. Maximize additional support, participation and integration of all youth on site.
  10. Assist with scheduling and preparing weekly Staff meetings and monitor safety and behaviour of participants.
  11. Perform daily campground safety inspection
  12. Assist with the set-up and take down of all camp equipment.
  13. Provide Staff development by participating in writing mid-summer and final evaluations for all staff.
  14. Provide formal and informal feedback to employees.
  15. Market programs to the public.
  16. Foster an atmosphere of fun and create those cherished “at camp” memories for everyone.


  1. Strong Interpersonal and management skills.
  2. Ability to work within a Team Environment.
  3. Good problem solving and decision making skills.
  4. Understanding of Scouts Canada’s practices.
  5. Enthusiastic and energetic.
  6. Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search or willing to obtain one (n/a to applicants under the age of 18).
  7. Successful applicants will be required to complete the Scouts Canada Screening and Training requirements.
  8. Valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
  9. Valid Food Safe certificate.
  10. Previous experience working with youth would be an asset.


This is a contract position and a total salary, commensurate with skill and experience, will be established for the contract period.

Declaration of vaccination status will be requested upon hire in addition to a clean Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
